NeoLeaf Press started back in 2018 as a small publishing house. Although it went well to start, things changed drastically in 2020 due to covid. Events were canceled, shipping delays were crippling and most of our contracted staff bowed out. This left the company in limbo until 2022.
NeoLeaf was originally meant to be a combination of Neo for new and Leaf for the leaf of a page. We decided this name fits us now more than ever, because as a company we are turning over a new leaf. Many things have changed over the last few years. More people are shopping online. Cost of living prices are up and we know this.
With stepping into a new leaf of our lives we set out to offer a combination of fun, entertain, and interesting things in our shop at various price levels to accommodate all of our supports. |
For those who might not have the funds available to purchase something, we have started offering freebies for our supporters as a way to say thank you. We plan to continue to add freebies to our shop. In addition, when we can, we try to outsource local to support our surrounding community and other small shops.
A small family business equals a small crew all working hard. David Albee, founder of the company, brings years of experience to the table. Formerly the communications director for Des Moines Adult Education, and before that Production Manager for a medical textbook publisher, David now focuses his attention on formatting our books and journals, and works with marketing and events. Originally from Maine, David moved to Iowa in 1990 and lived in Des Moines until 2018 where he moved to a small home in the country. David has a passion for writing and reading, along with gaming and Dungeons and Dragons. |
Cassandra DenHartog is the artist and author behind all of our products. In 2003 she started taking writing classes and continued until 2008 where she went into college graduating in 2013 with an arts degree along with a degree in physical therapy and massage therapy. Cassandra has won several writing contests and was offered three publishing deals between 2015 and 2016. She traditionally published her first book Past In Shadows, but quickly got the rights back in order to self publish and have more control over marketing her own books. Fast forward to now, Cassandra has several books published under NeoLeaf Press and found her favorite genre to write is Paranormal Romance. Cassandra lives in a small country home with her husband David Albee and together they started NeoLeaf Press. In her free time between art and writing, Cassandra games, playing anything from basic Monopoly to Magic the Gathering, to computer games.

In 2018 NeoLeaf Press grew, gaining our shipping quality manager, Neo. Neo was found on a busy highway and had been slightly chewed on by another animal. Weighing in at under a pound when adopted, he is now a 22 pound chunk who's main goal in life is to inspect every box that comes through the office.

Little Bit joined the working family in 2019. She was found wandering outside the front door with a massive eye infection. A little medication and love and she became our mental heath department. She is always ready for some needed cuddles after a stressful day and makes sure cuddles and scratches happen every night before bed.

Nugget joined us in 2020 right before the pandemic. She was a rescue, being the last chick at a farm store that didn't sell because she looked sickly. That quickly changed and NeoLeaf's small family gained a ... nutritional expert ... egg maker ... scrap eater. We're not really sure what title she should have, but she's family.

We may be a an impromptu family, but we work hard at our goals. We're not perfect, just like anyone else, but we are incredibly grateful for our supporters. So from us to you, if you've gotten this far, thank you.
