Steven Benson is suffering, and on the brink of death, he is offered the chance of a lifetime. The CEO of Tempest Inc, Paul Nelson, wants to send Steven’s consciousness into what seems to be a just game. Legend of the Sword Bearer is an immersive fantasy RPG novel that brings modern Sci-Fi and Fantasy colliding together. Legend of the Sword Bearer has the feel of an RPG which every gamer would love, with enough action and great world building, making this a must for Fantasy readers. The maps, images, and graphics in this book are great touches, giving it an immersive feel.
Jeremy Fabiano writes fairy-tale-worthy descriptions, which are beautiful and very descriptive. The many characters are well done and gives Legend of the Sword Bearer the feel of epic fantasy. This adds realism without being overwhelming. An RPG mesh with technology can be tough to pull off, but this author melds them together well. Never was Legend of the Sword Bearer hard to follow or overwhelming.
Being a gamer I loved the added stats and game feel. This is done so well that even non-gamers can enjoy and understand this system. The Highlander reference was priceless and gained this book an extra +2 for fanservice. There are even more great things we can say about this book, but overall, to sum it up, Jeremy took a Fantasy, SciFi, and a gaming idea, and mashed them together skillfully, pushing Legend of the Sword Bearer to the same quality of Ready Player One.
We at NeoLeaf Press give this book our Gold Recommendation and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
