The Letter Mage: First Quarto
Alexandra Penn

Picture

The Letter Mage contains a whole new way to look at magic. The idea is fresh and would appeal to anyone who loves writing and books. First person stories are, in general, more difficult to write. Author Alexandra Penn does this very well. We get a very good feel for Aleph Worf-Sapir and her many other characters which make up this expansive world. For something so fresh and complex she does a very good job of grounding the reader.
The Letter Mage shines a whole new light on YA literature and the classic teen at school approach. This book is written so it will connect well with teenage readers, but also be very entertaining for any age. It really gives a concrete feeling of being in a magical school.
Alexandra has a unique writing style that is catchy and fresh. Her take on the typical chapter one, two, three is new and interesting. Her ability to use these to add more to the story is fun and helps separate movements between time and setting.

We at NeoLeaf Press give this book our Gold Recommendation and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
